BUT OHMYGOSH I LOVE THE BAND MY BOYFRIEND IS IN!!!
They’re just so…good. And their songs not only have really catchy music, but the lyrics are about something interesting for once, instead of emotional problems and dancing and partying and whatnot.
And, in addition to being the drummer, Alex is also really good at recording. This is surprising since you wouldn’t think so by looking at his hilly billy equipment. lol
We may have gotten straight one’s at state festival yesterday,
but I still really wish that I would have realized to play louder. You could hardly hear me in the recording the majority of the time. :P
Well, my cold is going away.
I’m hoping it’ll be gone Thursday. I NEED to do the BEST piccolo performance that I can for State Festival. NEED.
I seriously have little to no respect for the percussionists in my school band.
During marching season they’re all arrogant shits,
and during concert season they sleep and talk in the back constantly while the rest of us are attempting to please the conductor.
I don’t CARE if some of them don’t play during different songs, be respectful!!
I’m almost ashamed that my boyfriend is part of that group…
Earlier I heard a girl I know complaining about how the drama department doesn’t get enough respect.
Excuse me? Fuck you! You get full houses all three nights whenever you have performances for plays and whatnot…and people PAY to get to see them!! The drama department gets interviewed and gets a story in the local paper (most of the time on the front page) for every play!
The school band on the other hand has never gotten respect. The principal acts like it’s so easy and meaningless to play an instrument and play the pieces that we are assigned…but no, you stupid fat man. Even though our concerts are free we still only get maybe 2/3 of the seats filled…and they’re all just family of the band students. It’s not like our band is terrible or anything, we’re actually really good.
I really hate how people look down so much on the beautiful music we perform and look so highly on school plays. Come on, nobody here even knows how to act right. They all suck major.
“Purple Twilight” by Robert Longfield
We sight read this in band today, but since we kept it, I’m assuming we’ll get to work on it more. I was terrible at counting today so I managed to miss all but one of my solos (very last at the end) in the entire piece. (piccolo)
I hate when I have a song from band stuck in my head, so I go to type a status (or something similar, depending on the site) but then I realize, “wait, you can’t post a melody as a status!”
I dream of being part of one of those very strict and flawless school bands.
Diss the band for being pointless, will you?
Well guess what, the drama club is the most pathetic sloppiest group of whores I’ve ever known.

Seriously, it was embarrassing at the MSBOA symphony band invitational Saturday. Every time a band came on stage (I was helping percussion move their stuff onstage with each set-up crew and worked the curtains for each performance, and these were 7th and 8th graders mind you), they would quietly comment on how gross the school’s stage was. Dried sloppy paint all over the floor (which seriously, how can those idiots be so sloppy when painting sets? Haven’t they heard of laying down tarps or plastic or something before they work?), the back curtain is pretty dead, a whole quarter of it now has just come down and is completely useless, exposing the filthy dusty, sawdust covered wall…ohmygosh everything is so disgusting back there. It’s the single room (besides their nasty little whole-in-the-wall paint room that always smells like piss) in the entire school that’s just a complete and utter mistake. They really all need to grow some balls and consider cleaning up after themselves once in a while.
Ugh.
Snow Day today.
But it feels like another pity snowday. There are sooooo many schools closed in Michigan today, they probably just gave it to us.
Better not cancel band festival, because I will be so mad if we have to move it, especially since we set up yesterday because it’s held at our school every year. I also want to see if we make it to states or not. My class (class of 2012) has gotten a 1st division for both invitational and states every single year since 7th grade when we started. When our class reached the high school band, the band made it to states for the first time in 9 years. If the freshmen this year end up sucking enough to make us fail and not pass through, us seniors are going to be sooo pissed.
